COVID has significantly impacted the way we are all working. Some of us love remote working, some of us are desperate to return to the office, so how as leaders do we decide how and when we return to the office this year? This is a large and complex conversation, so we are pleased to be joined by Sara Jackson Wade, who has been a large part of this ongoing conversation in her division at Emory University. Sara will share some of her experiences in considering and implementing this return and we’ll look to explore in the group some longer term questions:

  • What have we learned from remote work that we should carry into post-covid times?
  • How might we change the way that we serve our constituencies in light of this?
  • How might this impact the way we work moving forward?
  • Are decisions on how and where staff work from going to affect the competitiveness of HE as places of employment?

FACILITATOR

As Director of Online Learning and part of the Office of International and Summer Programs, Sara Jackson Wade oversees online curriculum development, online learning policies, and faculty support in Emory College of Arts and Sciences. Under Sara's leadership the College developed and launched the Emory College Online Teaching Strategies (ECOTS) pedagogical training to guide faculty through the online course development and teaching process in 2015 and adapted and deployed the training to all faculty during the 2020 transition to remote learning. In addition to online learning, Sara has helped launch several other Emory College strategic initiatives, including the Emory Pre-College Program and Maymester. Sara holds degrees from the University of St. Andrews and Samford University.
