What is the goal of parenting? We all have our own, but overall we likely want to raise good humans who are kind, empathetic, empowered, and happy. It sounds so simple… but is it? We all know it’s not! Parenting with intention and positivity - all while dealing with the stress of day-to-day life - is SO HARD! And each child is different, with different parenting needs. The result is that we tend to practice reactive parenting, which, in turn, can strain our relationships with our children.

Abi Cavazos is an International Education professional who has worked in higher education for over 20 years. She began working in the study abroad field in 2012, and has served in various capacities at a variety of institutions during the past 10 years. She is also a mom to a 12-year-old daughter and a 15-year-old son. She has navigated issues such as work/life balance, stages of grief with kids, and ‘mom guilt’ of being a working parent. In her current role, Abi serves as Associate Director for Study Abroad at Siena College outside of Albany, NY.
