On average, children ages 8-12 spend 4-6 hours a day watching or using screens - this goes up to 9 hours for teens (Source: AACAP). While screens can entertain, teach, and keep children occupied - they can also lead to extensive problems. Managing a child’s screen time can be challenging. Screens are here to stay and can offer many positives. But they can also be damaging and addictive. We may not always be fully aware of what our children are viewing, making them exposed to cyberbullying, violence, substance abuse, misleading information, and more. The rapid changes in accessibility and evolution of portable screens have left us learning all as we go (after all, the iPad is only 14 years old!!).

Have you started the “screen battle” in your home? Join this upcoming Affinity Group discussion. Every one of us has unique insights and knowledge about this topic to share with the group. We welcome all parents to join us and to learn, share, guide, and thrive!
