Writing well helps you advance in your career, not just because people are persuaded by the insights you convey in a piece of writing but because writing helps you generate those insights in the first place. Writing helps you think. Whether you want to start a Substack, write for academic journals, produce a report, design a program, create a social media campaign, you need to start with telling a story.

Which means you need to find the story. Not just an opening anecdote to set the scene, but the story that illuminates your project—that is, the story of what drives you to write about this particular subject.

In this workshop, attendees will engage in ‘find the story’ writing exercises from the field of creative nonfiction that can help your writing in any project become more composed: clearer, more textured, more meaningful.

Presenter: Dr. Amy Muse
